Todos & Google Tasks
This page covers what TokenWork adds on top of the project todo list described in Notes, Todos & Plans: todos that remember their conversation, a page with every project’s todos, and sync with Google Tasks.
Add todos from a conversation
- From a message: open a message’s menu and pick Add as todo. The first line of the message is filled in. Edit it if needed (up to 120 characters), then click Save todo.
- From selected text: select text in the chat and click Add to todos.
- By the agent: ask the agent to add a todo (“add a todo to update the README”). It shows an Add todo card in the chat. Click View todos to jump to the item.
The agent can list todos, add them, edit them, and mark them done. It can’t delete todos. It can only change todos it created or todos linked to its own session.
Adding todos from a message isn’t available in the VS Code extension.
Todos remember their conversation
A todo you add from a chat is linked to that conversation. When you send a todo to the agent, the session that works on it is linked too. To link a todo you type by hand, turn on Link to this conversation before saving it.
Click a todo to open its conversation. If the todo has a work session, that opens first. Otherwise the conversation where it was made opens, scrolled to the message it came from.
When a todo has more than one link, open Linked conversations to pick one:
- Source conversation: where the todo was made
- Work session: where the agent worked on it, with its state (Running, Failed, Done)
If a linked conversation was deleted, it shows as Deleted conversation. Click Unlink to remove it.
In the project’s todo list, switch Todos to show to Current session to see only the todos linked to the session you have open.
See all todos
Click All todos at the top of the session sidebar. The page groups todos by project, with Chats at the end.
Use Filter to narrow the list:
- Project: one project or All projects
- Status: In progress, Completed, or All
- Created by: Anyone, People, or Agent
- Linked to a conversation: only todos with a link
- Include archived sessions: also count links to archived sessions
You can search, edit, and delete todos here too. Todos the agent added carry an Added by the agent badge. If one project fails to load, it shows its own error with Retry, and the other projects still appear.
Sync with Google Tasks
Google Tasks sync keeps each project’s todos in a Google Tasks list. Changes go both ways.
Your administrator has to configure a Google client for TokenWork first. If the card says “Google client is not configured on this server.”, ask your administrator.
Connect your Google account
- Open Settings → Integrations → Google Tasks.
- Click Connect. Your browser opens the Google sign-in page.
- Sign in and allow access. The app shows “Finish authorization in the browser. Waiting for Google…” until you’re done.
You should see your Google account email on the card. Connect on the computer where TokenWork runs. Signing in from another device (a phone, or a browser connected remotely) isn’t supported. Google Tasks isn’t available in the VS Code extension.
Pick a list for each project
On the same card, each project (and Chats) has Task list for {project}. Pick an existing list from Choose a list, or click Create new list. Projects without a list don’t sync.
When sync happens
- about 2 seconds after you change a todo
- every 60 seconds while the todo list is on screen
- when you come back to the app window
- when you click Sync Google Tasks next to a project’s todos
If a todo changed on both sides, the newer change wins. If sync fails, the sync icon says so. Click it to try again.
Deleting a todo in TokenWork deletes the task in Google, and the other way around.
Disconnect
Click Disconnect on the card. TokenWork stops syncing but remembers which list each project uses. Your tasks in Google stay as they are.
